Property Description

Welcome to Porter Creek Plantation, a remarkable 553-acre property nestled in the heart of Wilkinson County, just off JR Sims Road. This expansive tract offers a rare combination of trophy hunting, rich history, and thoughtful land stewardship, making it a true legacy property. Porter Creek winds for more than three miles through the property, flowing from west to east. Historically, as one of the few main creeks flowing between the Ocmulgee and Oconee rivers, this waterway once served as a major travel and trade corridor for the Creek Indians, a fact that's supported by the treasure trove of Native American artifacts discovered across the property. The current owner has curated an extensive collection of these historical items, housed in a dedicated on-site building that offers a fascinating window into the region's past. Beyond its historical significance, the plantation is renowned for its outstanding recreational opportunities. The land has been meticulously managed to enhance wildlife habitat and promote sustainable hunting. Multiple food plots are strategically placed throughout the property, along with an expansive trail network that provides easy access across the land. A well-maintained 4.5-acre dove field, complete with fake powerlines, draws flocks year after year, while prescribed burning across the majority of the acreage every other year supports early successional growth ideal for turkey and deer populations. The property has consistently produced trophy Whitetail deer and supports a thriving wild turkey population. Trail camera photos and harvest records show the success of this carefully managed program. Porter Creek and its associated wetlands also offer excellent seasonal waterfowl hunting, with natural cover and water access creating ideal conditions for ducks during migration. Optimal ingress and egress are made possible through an extensive interior road system and additional deeded and surveyed easement access points, allowing hunters to move through the land without disturbing key wildlife areas. The property is anchored by a rustic 1,520-square-foot lodge featuring four bedrooms and one bath. With wood accents throughout, the lodge offers a warm and inviting space perfect for hosting hunting parties, friends, or family. It comes fully furnished and ready for immediate use. Other improvements include a pole barn with a skinning area, multiple utility buildings and shelters for storage, and a private gun range for sighting in rifles before the season or shooting clays. Porter Creek Plantation is more than a recreational property-it's a place where natural beauty, wildlife, and history converge. Whether you're looking to create unforgettable hunting experiences, explore centuries of local heritage, or invest in a high-quality tract of land, this property offers it all.
